We old timers have chummed for years.Never telling anyone what really helps bring in fish. One thing I do is make about two dozen golf ball sized bait balls.I pick an area that at times I have caught fish at.If the tide is right I throw out 3-4 balls and motor on to the next spot until all the balls are set out.I then head back to the first spot and fish. The bait balls bring in minnows, shrimp, fingers. If i hook up i fish until the bite stops then move on to the next bait ball location.Throwing bait balls in the grass then coming back when the tide is up in the grass works real well.Old fish from the freezer chunked up works real well under docks.Stake a dock out and throw fish chunks under it.It gets pulled all over the place by the tide and will bring in plenty of minnows, crabs.Watch the gulls they will tell you where bait is also.I gave lewis my “Chum Churn” he fishes off shore.Loved that thing for inshore.Catch bait stealers drop them in the churn LOL
I recently picked up an old all-aluminum and stainless portable hand-cranked meat grinder at Goodwill for $3. Endless possibilities!

S/M you using shrimp pait formula? Woolfie, your gona love that machine!! try a garbage desposal in a 5 gal bucket!!
I have some old fish in the freezer that I wanted to use for that same thing. Mostly king mac that is two years old. I bet you would get in trouble if the warden pulled up and you were chumming w kings or other sport fish. Thoughts?

Yes, you would get in trouble unless you could produce the carcass w/ head and tail intact!!
It ain’t no mystery…this beer’s history!

I disagree, how in the world could you tell what it was after its ground into pate’? Whose to say it wasnt store bought chum? I’m sorry but i dont see how chum regulations could be inforced even if there were any regulations which i doubt there are.

I will buy those cheapo Thailand shrimp when on sale and cut them up into 1/2in pieces. (I save the local shrimp for eating. Way better than imports) When you know fish are there but not biting I will throw a handful out and that usually gets things going.

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.
