clamp on rod holders

I have a situation where 1 1/4" is too small and 1 1/2" is to big. I’m not ready to tackle the fab shop quite yet. any ideas on how to get a quality rod holder to fit or where to buy…

If you’re trying to clamp on to 1" pipe, the O.D. is 1 5/16". If that’s the case, I might be able to help you out.

1" pipe O.D. is 1.315", 1 1/4" pipe O.D. is 1.66", 1 1/2" pipe O.D. is 1.9".

Sorry, I missed it by .0025". My bad.

I could use the help. It seemed to me to be about 1 3/8. kinda odd huh? I’ll stick calipers on it first chance I get.

Is there possibly a different size? It is powder coated and I really woould like to go cheap right now. We just got the boat and put a lot of $$$ into it and the house lately. so major fabrication and powder coating needs to stand by.

Once its tme for that I need a lot done…any suggetions/“help” is greatly appreciated. phil.

The powdercoat is going to add some thickness to the O.D. of the pipe. I don’t know if it would add 1/16". I suppose it could though. I’ve seen some pretty thick powdercoat on motorcycle parts.
If it is 1" pipe, I can get the clamps to fit it, and then it’s just a matter of welding the rod holders to them.(at whatever angle you’d like) Price would be reasonable.
Give me a call anytime.

Coating thicknesses are measured in mils which equate to microns, etc.

Thin powder coats specs range up to .010". Thicker dipping specs range generally up to .040" or in that range.

You could have a 1 1/4" O.D. tube with a heavy coating.

You could get the thickness of the coating checked with a dft gauge from any coating contractor.

I’ll put calipers on it and see where i stand. I’ll let you know.

Happy Bob did custom work for me at a VERY reasonable price. I was surprised too… Never hurts to call.

“Coating thicknesses are measured in mils which equate to microns, etc.”

1 mil = .001 inch
1 micron = .001 millimeter
25.4 microns = 1 mil.

Go with the larger size and put something in the clamp to take up the extra space. I used some silicone from an oven glove. Lots of things will work.:sunglasses:
