Keep them cool and in the shade. I always like to wet them down every once in a while so the seal formed between the shells doesn’t dry out too much. I’m not sure if it makes much of a difference to be honest but I’ve always done it with no ill effects.

I keep oysters alive for 2 or 3 weeks by storing in cooler with water in frozen milk jugs. I have to change jugs every day or so depending on how hot tthe weather is. Keep oysters out of the water. I have an indirect reading thermometer (Harbour Freight) that reads about 40 too 50 degrees. I wrap old tarps or blankets around the coolers for added insulation for longer lasting ice. Also keep coolers out of the sun and rain. Just had some that I kept for 2 weeks and still have some left. They sure salty and sweet.
Is this fun or what?
