Clams

I went out and scatched some clams yesterday. My question is how long will they live and how should i store them? I threw the big ones in the freezer. I cooked some in pan with wine/butter/galic. I put the rest of them in salt water over night. Is it o.k to leave them in the water or someone mentioned putting in the fridge and they would live for a while. Is that a good idea? Going to eat the rest of them today or tomorrow. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Don’t put them in water. They will drown. It’s fine a few days in the refrigerator.

x2 w/ larry, fridge is fine, but not the 31 degree beer fridge, better to be closer to 40F. once they open and will not shut with a simple tap, time to toss em.

been messing around with clams for several years but doesn’t make me an expert I’ve been told they need to be water to exspell the sand and grit for at least 24 hours which I do usually in the frigh or if its cool in the car port. I’ve added corn meal to the water the last match because it was suggested to me and I Know no better the last batch was caught or gather 2-08-2014 or earlier I got them on the 8th kept in Frig. until the 10th dry put in tap water with cornmeal on the 9th and eaten on the the 15th they had been in the water corn meal since the 9th fully submerged in water. They all open perfectly in a butter, garlic, wine, simmer which turned into best Miranria Linguine clam dish I’ve ever tasted. Could’t eat all so on Sunday Lunch I finished off no Gastric issues of yet but you never know. I would avoid clams leave them where they are but would appreciate and email of there location just to check on how they are doing,
