What do you do when you have a sweet forecast and a long weekend?
You call the people on your fishing short list, fill up 3 boats, talk a little trash and go wack some dolphin!
Sunday, May 26
After a long winter project that included a MAJOR boat transformation on his 31 Cape Horn I teamed up with my good buddy brianh on the BH-CH. Grabbed a crew consisting of Pipes, Haywood, Guzman (aka cherry popper), and a green horn from the upstate Wild man Eddie!
Ole Pallet pulled together his all Star crew as well. He will have to give names to everyone cause this is getting out of control already.
Got a head start on the split D crew and with the F300s pushings us 45 we made short work of the run to the GTH.
Lines in a right off the bat we had 2 in the box. Slowed a bit right before split D showed up. Picked at them on the ledge for a bit but nothing really going. Made the call to head south to a rip offshore found by the marlin boys.
Split D found the rip and deployed the trap, we were not far behind and before you know it dolphin are coming over the gunnels.
Wild Man Eddie’s first dolphin. First guy from Kuwait I have ever fished with. Heard some good stories about life over there.

Split D piled on the dolphin too!

BH-CH tower was the trick for keeping up with the break! I need one of these on my boat.

Felt like we had a good box of dolphin so we headed in looking for some bottom fish and hopefully a blackfin. Found some grouper but the tuna were no where to be found.
Ran home to a beautiful sunset.

We ended on the BH-CH with
19 dolphin
6 grouper
3 porgies
Pallet and the Split D had
22 dolphin
5 grouper
skunk on the porgies.[
