Been looking for a weather window for a couple of weeks now. Seemed like everyone I got conflicted with work. FINALLY a great forecast on a good weekend. Called my boy Phin and offered him an all expense trip to the GTH all he had to do was show up… blew me off. Called my boy It’ll Do, he was in New York buying black sea bass or something…
Brianh, Sellsfish, RightRx, Yellabird, all had something to do.
Left me with only one option…
The BIG GUNS! aka Clarendon boys. Now they are a bit rough around the edges and have been known to drink a beer to ten while fishing but they are hardcore and were ready. Slobbering like pit-bulls staring at a T-bone!
Pallet wanted to take the Super yella bus aka Split Decision so after my duck hunting buddy Haywood showed up we took off toward GTH. Dodged some deer on the way down 521 and pulled into Georgetown landing Marina just in time to meet up with Some Guy from Ohio, Pallet, LnS, and Undertaker to add our stuff to the Split. Pushed off at 4:45am and made our way through the THICK fog. Finally popped out of the zero vis, LnS pushed em down the the 225s roared to life. I settled into the bean bag tucked behind the curtain to hide from the wind. The split is not a speed demon like the Freeman but she offers a great fishing platform.
About half way to the hole Pallet cranks up the stereo in the Spilt, one of the bass speaker is right next to my head. The ole Split has a stereo in her too. She thumps like a low-rider in an Easy-E video. I quickly found a new spot and listened to my ears ring for the next 30 mins.
Pulled up to the GTH with only one other boat in sight, a sailboat heading south. The crew sprang to life, outriggers swung out, ballyhoo hit the water, and the sounds of clickers rang to life as we deployed the spread. I started with the long rigger and just as I went to stic

Good report, current was BUSTING…Those super guns get a lot closer with some super fins!!! The HF2000s will do the job but kicking those mares avantis is like mounting a 50 cal on a 12’ High Tide…needs more HP.

We do need to go diving soon before the coming closure. Did not think you would have been as interested in a dedicated fishing trip. They the dive card got thrown in late.
