Headed out of the ever so shallow Stono this morning with an All-star crew of Chunky Dunk, Partsman, LnS Marine, and the one and only Skinneej to attack the bottom dwellers. We were greeted with the blown forecast by our weather man and faced the NE winds. After some debate we headed to one of our buddy Phin’s “top secret” bottom numbers.
With Partsman at the helm the sloppy seas were no match for his heavy throttle hand and the Contender. The motors enjoyed spending a large amount of time out of the water today as we seemed to literally fly from spot to spot.
Our first “top secret” spot was being held by Gut Wrench and we had to head to plan B. First dive brought in 3 lobster and gave Skinneej a chance to test out his new Barbie underwater camera.
We ran to another spot caught some fish on rod and reel and tested the waters with little happening.
Assuming the group of boats had given up on the original spot we ran back sending a dive team over. Got on them this time! Hogs were hit hard and Partsman added a Gag to the box. The wind started to blow and Skinnee grew concerned about a turtle attack so we hit the bottom one last time with a few more hogs and lobster. Not the greatest day but not to bad either.
Chunky drove us home Partsman style. Spent all day cold and wet but still better than work.
Good crew and a good time. Thanks Partsman for the boat since the All Rise is going through a face lift, Skinneej for pulling tanks together with short notice, Chunky for running the boat and not loosing any divers, and LnS for the hot trigger finger today.

You have a good memory sir. I am scheduled for surgery early 2009. The wife did NOT want me going on this trip, but I knew it would be my last dive for a while. Basically there is one motion that throws it out and it is difficult to do with all the dive gear on because of where my BC rests on my shoulder not to mention the tight wetsuit. (she was not amused as I demonstrated this Christmas day) I am VERY conscious of this motion and have not done it since it came sleeping 4 months ago. So to answer your question my shoulder is still crap but I knew there would be a very very small chance of throwing it out and if I did I was prepared for it. I would not put my dive buddy or the boat crew under that kind of stress.
As far as the boat, we are adding new electronics, transducer, t-top canvas, auto pilot, radar, stereo system, and electronics box. Basically she is sitting under the shed with nothing but a compass and alot of holes in the dash.

The water temp on the bottom was 61. I always thought the lion fish were cool until i read about all the bad stuff they were doing. I now do what I can to help aid in the problem.

Man, 61 is pretty chilly. I dove a pond in 58 degrees and got a decent headache from the cold. You gotta be part fish.

There was a big Grady out there as well. I am pretty sure they were diving. We even found a freeshaft laying on the bottom. Partsman sent it up with his hog and grouper.
I am not sure what happened. Maybe the added pressure of the all boats pushed the fish off a bit. Once everyone left they came back, we went down, and well… The rest is history or should I say fillets.
