but the catch of the trip occurred when we were moving to a new spot and looked out the back of the boat just in time to see one of my Abu Garcia reel and striper rod jump out as the spool emptied…we had forgot to reel it in before we left… But the GPS showed our track and I figured all I had to do was cast a treble hook out and drag it over the line to snag it off of the bottom…I tied a rooster tail jig about 2 inches below a 2 oz egg sinker, cast it over the track and snagged the line on the first cast…lol … I gently retrieved the line as I worked my way back towards the fishing rod and brought the rod and reel right back into the boat…my partners thought I was just wasting time to try but I got it back on one attempt!
Those fish were caught downlining, Thursday and Friday Danny when they were generating, Saturday didn’t work out so well for us without any current… We should have spent more time trolling and cut baiting on Friday, instead of laying up in the air conditioning, watching the PGA Championship tourney, and thinking we had it figured out…lol

If you’ve had fun catching fish on the transom bait, you are welcome…
I’ve spent about 85% of my life’s wages on fishing, the rest I just wasted…
