Clark Sound

Good morning everyone! First time poster here. I live on James Island very close to Clark Sound. I know it gets very hard to navigate at times back there but there is a path to the back of Morris Island.

There seems to be lots of mud flats with some structure. Are there any hot spots or deep areas or should I just push on to deeper water? I’m trying to get the area figured out so I can put my friend with a boat on some fish to get him hooked. My boat is somewhere in the future so my access is limited. Thanks for any responses, I’m not looking for specific spots more of a “yes, keeps searching grasshopper” or a cue to move through to something better.

 there is good fishing in Clark Sound, if you can find them…I love it BECAUSE it is so tricky to navigate…keeps the boat traffic and pressure down…good luck…

All of the docks that are closer to morris island end of the clark sound have good fishing around them. There are a lot of big reds in that end of the river use live mullet. Some of the docks you can catch sheep head, flounder and black drum using live shrimp and fiddlers. Can’t help on the navigation because of only fished a little ways in from morris island entrance. Also the patch of grass on the mud flat behind morris island is good when the tides up. But be careful because you could get stuck or run into an oyster mound pretty easy back there if your not experienced in the area.
