Hit Clarks Hill Friday with my buddy the outdoor writer, he was doing an article on gizzard shad so we headed to fish the tailraces below Russell Dam.
Only managed 1 striper(6lbs) but the sucker hit a gizzard 10" long. We also used BB’s and even trout(actually got six 14-16" trout swimming in bait tank and my grill them for lunch today:smiley:)
First time on Clarks Hill for me but really not that far from house, it is actually about 10 minutes from my hunting club and took 45 min to get there. We launched at Bobby Brown State Park and it is a very short ride to tailraces.
They did not start running water through dam until 1pm and he had to be back in Greenville at 3:30 so we had to leave.
May have to try this again next Friday, when they start running water boats come up and people line the banks casting
