Clarks Hill Nov. 6

Keg Creek, late afternoon until just after dark. Bite started around 3:30 or 4:00. Bait moved in about 4:00 and the bite was on. Got 8, 2 in 3lb range, 2 in 6, 2 in 8 and 2 over 12. A great afternoon. Everyone had fun. Brought a friend and his dad out. They had never fished, except pond fishing. They couldn’t believe it
Everything was caught on BBH, and here was the big surprise, all on the free lines (out back and planner boards), NONE on down lines. Most activite was in 35 -45 ft. of water. Go under the power lines, look for the landing on the left, and a double decker house boat on the right in a little cove. If you get to the white double decker dock (on right), you are at the end of the bite, and need to turn around. Still no schooling, but the 4 idiots on jet skis couldn’t have helped. Good luck to all and thanks for posting

CToolman… how about you?

It will get better. What happened to the trolling motor? and how are you fixing it? You can call minn kota for help. I got the remote working for the weekend. What a great piece of work. No wires. Just that little remore on the dash. Touch touch auto pilot. Getting easier all the time.
Found out that there is a good Clarks hill map with countour lines. Navionics, hotmaps, premium, south. $199 is a little steep, but Santa should be looking at my list which will include the map and a tackle box to build in the console for trays.

trolling motor fixed,Portronics fixed it(thats were i bought it),the coil wire had a break in it…i also got the remote put on mine while it was there, now all i need is the recliner and i am set…fish will just be jumping in the boat…:wink:

thats great about the maps,i am looking real hard at getting a lowrance/eagle,going to use my garmin as a back up(an expensive backup, but a lesson learned:frowning_face:)…

tried trolling monday nothing but trees and gar,but i am getting much better at retrieving my lures…didn’t see anyone catching anything around me,they all were down rodding…

good luck and we need to get together again soon.:sunglasses:

Bob, you will love the maps on the Lowrance units. I purchased a Furuno for my boat against everyones advice and ended up going to the Lowrance LCX19 combo unit. I have the Navionics chip for SE region and the Nauticpath for saltwater which came in real handy when I was in Islamorada, FL this summer (that is a trip worth taking if you ever have the time).

I talked with one of my hunting/fishing buddies this weekend and he said if the weather will turn in the next couple of weeks the fish should really be biting by early Dec.

Still would like to get with you for a trip after Thanksgiving. If you are interested we can go on my boat and you can study the Lowrance a little more and see what you think. I talked to Long’s today and they are having to order me a new tilt/trim motor and I should be ready to go. All the neighbors are getting worried that I have sold my boat:smiley::smiley:

Bob by the way if you want to try a different spot email me and I will give you a so called “special spot” that has been productive in the past when water temps are high on Hartwell

The striper guys are much more helpful than the salts.
Now to get some interest and info out of the Clarks Hill group.

Fish should be moving up to Raysville soon. That is always fun, but I would like to stay on the dam end of the lake and still be able to catch some. Will need to study the map some more

Catch um up guys

Hey Chris, you have not tried getting info out of the Greenville Striper Queens(Kings) web site. Not many folks there will help much at all. I do not mind giving reports when, where and how I am catching fish but guys on that site act like they are giving away their money.

Nice to see some guys that fish all over the state that are willing to help others out:smiley::smiley:

TPrice, I agree. This isn’t tournament fishing. Most of us are lucky to get out once a week or every other week. Why make it hard on ourselves. When I give a report, I try to be specific, knowing that in a couple of days, it will all change. It also allows other striper guys to compare notes. I know that I am a better fisherman because of the info that is shared. I feel sure that toolman would also agree on this, he has also benenfited from our collective ideas.
My next trip will be with a little less equipment, I will be leaving the downrigger home, expecting the fish to be close to the surface.

I guess in summary, it is a lot more fun when you catch them then when you just fish and look. I took two guys out last weekend (a 72 yr. old father and his son (who is a friend of mine)). They had only pond fished many years ago, another friend helped me with some info, and we were on them. Their expresions and excitement when a couple of 12 lbers took off was worth it. Would I have found those fish and done as well without sharing info?

As for me, I will keep sharing and inviting people to fish

Went last night. Tried all around the Parksville area. I had no luck, but talked to a guy at the ramp that caught 14 Hybrids in the Cherokee area. All I caught was a bag of boiled peanuts, 2 Bud Lights and lots of wise cracks from the wife. I was using down lines with little success. I have never tried using planner boards. Remember I am new…any instructions/tips or advice on using them. Where can they be purchased? I am ready to catch some fish, the wife thinks I couldn’t catch a cold. Your trip sounded fun. Also heard of fish being caught all around Moduc.

Thanks
John

Here is my advice. Come out with me. No guarentees, but I can show you how the stuff works. It was a lot of fun. There is a learning curve, but there also needs to be a network of guys who enjoy sharing information. It seems that Parksville is not producing at all right now. Raysville should soon be getting hot, but it is a long drive. I would like to find a “Raysville area” on lour side of the lake. They are there, just need to find them.
Give me a call, not sure about this weekend. Might go on Sunday. And I know about the kidding that goes on when you come home skunked.

chris scout 202 john150

Mccombs, take his advice and invitation and go with him. This is the best way to learn the methods, go with someone and watch, listen and ask questions. Hell I did not even know how to hook up a planer board till I went with another guy and he showed me all the methods and tricks.

I also have a very good friend that fishes 2-3 days a week sometimes when the stripers are on and this lets me know where to fish. He always fishs during the week and I will be out on Fridays and weekends most of the time. Between the 2 of us (mostly him) we stay on the fish pretty well.

The secret is … we all fish better by sharing. If I wre going out today, after reading here, would I look at Parksville? Heck no.
Keep talking guys. Let others in on the “secret”

chris scout 202 john150

yes definately go out with chris…

here is why…he came down here to lake hartwell,he had never ever been on this lake,i had been totally skunked for 6-8 weeks, the day he came we got 3 and the biggest i have yet to catch…he is very knowledgable about reading the map, knowing what the fish will do,he proved that to me…

i agree things get easier after you watch someone show you how…

i have a feeling the day i get to take tprice out on my boat i will find he is very knowledgable also,i know he has tried to help me by e-mails a bunch…

thanks to both of you
