Clarks sound

I know Ive been told there are no fish here, but I have got to tell you. … I have found a new trout spot. Caught my biggest trout ever at 24" along with 6 others in an hour before having to move on! All were caught on soft plastics

Anyone thinking of finding this spot should consider this photo. I am only on rescue responce 25 - 30 % of the time. I’m not trying to tell you not to come here; Just be careful, don’t run fast on your first visit, take your time, and come at low tide to learn the oyster beds and markers. Some markers say come this way and some say don’t come near this; at half tide and up you will not know which it is saying.
And by the way Fish Whistle, the fish are only here sporadically. Out of 52 weeks in the year, the trout show up here for only a few weeks in the spring and a few weeks in the fall on thier way to and from thier spawning areas. And please try to restrain yourself from keeping too many of these big gals since the numbers are down because of the previous 2 severe winters. FW, pm me and I’ll show you around some of my Clark’s Sound.

My whole neighborhood was wakened(sp?) by the sounds of Navy Seals being rescued from Clark Sound, back when they use to try to practice their night time maneuvers over there. I think they moved their training on to a less “hostile” environment.

Hey… but, come on over.

been thinking about it, everyday at work I see it …

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Seen it a hundred times. I think it was last year there was a posting about there not being fish in Clarks SOund. I posted a comment then remarking that there are plenty of fish and some amazing gigging, you just have to know were you are going, on both tides. That is the reason why the larget battles of the Civil War that took place in SC happened on James Island, and it is the same reason why people quickly get discouraged when fishing or trying to fish this area. “Navigational Issues” You have to know were you are going. The Confederate army realized an attacking army with no knowledge of that areas water way would have an extremely hard time navigating the creeks and oyster flats that surrond the Harbor side of James Island.
I promise if you can convince someone who grew up on the island to show you the best ways to get around you will see some of the most amazing fish habitat, especially if you like skinny water fishing.

Get out There!

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”> It’s prettier than a speckled pup but… bring a spare prop or two and enough water to last you and your crew at least two tide changes.

There are only small fish in Clark Sound. All the good fish seem to congregate to the North of the Harbor. Better fish and higher numbers so you’re bet bet is up that way.

I moved out of Lighthouse Point in 1992 and hadn’t been in the sound since then. Loosewire and I went back there a couple of years ago and I could not believe how much it all has changed. I used to take the kids to the sand bar by the light house for outings and remember there used be a nice shallow area between the bar and Sullivans Island. Man how that area has filled in.
