I have Key West 176 Bay Reef and wanted to know what you used to clean your boats. Soapy water doesn’t really work that well. Any suggestions?
whats it dirty from??
on & off hull cleaner. dankest stuff ive used yet. minimal effort. they have the liquid and the gel at west marine…ive always used the gel. apply w/ sponge, let sit, and watch the magic, then rinse.
oh yeah…make sure you wear some gloves. it will burn

it also eats the wax off your fiberglass
Most of the dirt is from sand and mud from getin and out of boat. I fish alot of upstate lakes and we have alot red clay and sand on the shore. Also it will build a black film around the in=side of the boat.

Hoppy you’re correct. i learned that after using the boat for the first time after using the on & off. put in for a full 8-10 hour day and the water had already stained stained it again when i pulled it back out the water. Wax after use is Key. by the way, anyone know what the best wax to use is for hand and machine applications?
When I kept my boat on a trailer there was no better cleaner than a cycle of the TIRE WASH at one of your local car washes, spray that greenish liquid all over the inside of the boat and let it sit for a minute, then powerwash it with non soapy water and it would be spotless.

I recommend Rejex for a wax
softscrubb with bleach for dirt and stuff on inside. On and off for toughest stains but use sparingly.
I always use Mr. Clean magic eraser and Barkeepers Friend. I also use rejex wax.
The eraser and BK friend have removed stains that other cleaners couldn’t touch! Just my 1.99¢</font id=“size3”></font id=“maroon”>…![]()

I just go to walmart and get the marine cleaner/polisher wax in the blue bottle. Use a orbital buffer with the terry cloth with a small helping of the wax; buff the crud off which comes off pretty easy. After that you can use the cotton pad to polish it. I just recently got my boat new looking doing that. It had black rubber streaks from the old rollers, a hint of green from algae and the kind of dirt/grime you are talking about. It took about 2 hours to do the hull completely, then another 1.5 to get the chalking and oxidation off the inside.

Oh and there was dirt/grime/fish blood on the inside too and it got pretty much everything. It actually made me proud of that lil boat

soft scrub has an abrasive
I think the magic eraser does also.
MaryKates OnOFF hull cleaner is excellent
any of these thing will work
I like the onoff better because it doesnt have an abrasive in it, and it does the work without scrubing.
anything you use like this, will require wax afterwards.
once you clean the hull, a few coats of wax, will prevent the dirt from sticking next time, and a mild soap should be all you need to clean up
I’m now at www.teamcharlestonmarine.com
I use Clorox Clean Up with some soap…let the foamy wash sit on tough stains and they will more than likely disappear!
Pretty gently mixed with soap & water…
FSR is another for the hull…will remove all the discoloration on the hull.
