Sometimes that 5200 stuff can be nasty to work with - - like what I just was doing, sealing under a rub rail. That’s upward caulking, have to go slow so the sealant doesn’t fall down. That gets messy. When I saw that I was running low on acetone, I tried WD-40 to clean my hands and wipe up some excess, and it works great.
And another thing, I bought a caulk spreader(smoother?) gadget at Lowes for $3, then saw it for sale at a marine store for $8. It’s a 4" piece of plastic with a rubber insert, come on, $8??!!
Remember when we had competition here in Charleston? And, Walmart has greatly reduced what it stocks for boat cleaning/waxing and sealing supplies. I think the boat dealers are now cheaper than the marine stores on most all of that stuff.
(To be fair - - the marine store is having a sale on 5200 sealant.)
Anyway, add another use for WD-40 to the long list of things you can do with that stuff.
