Can someone give me some advice? I’ve been gigging the past couple years, just a few times a year, I’m having trouble finding clear water the last couple hours of the outgoing tide. I’ve tried out of the wind, in points, flats and everywhere else I can think of. I can only find clear water in big water, like on broad river. The flounder seem to be up in the back water this time of year but I am wasting 2 hours of outgoing tide every time I gig.
Thanks
That’s the way it is sometimes on the outgoing. You’ll always have cleaner water coming back in. There are certainly many areas that are clear enough to gig on the outgoing, you just need to keep searching and scouting. You’ll also usually find clearer water on smaller tides (non floods) and when we’ve had several days without rain. Keep at it and pay attention to weather conditions.

We plan gigging trips on the incoming tide. Outgoing is always muddier.
