Cruised the grass yesterday morning with Gulp Jerk Shad…First 400 yards I did not see any reds. Switched sides of the ICW and the first 10 feet here they come. Gulp hit the water, red hit the Gulp. Cranked up and moved 500 yards and could see down to 5 feet clear as a bell…but there were no fish to see…Spotted one in the back of a little pocket, again Gulp hit the water red hit Gulp.
Moved a mile or so and from 100 yards I could see a big red swimming around a single clum of grass…put down the TM and approached to find 2 over 12 pound reds just sitting there, Gulp hit the water, red sucked it up and blew it out in one swoop…Couple of big boats came along and got the mud stirred up, so I moved to a creek mouth, MM under a rattle cork and picked up a single slot…Super day on the clearest water I have ever seen in mid August.
