Went out with club members Bugsmunny and Turtlesc for a little pregame fishoff. Hit several trout spots at high tide but only managed to lose a little trout at the side of the boat. Pretty certain we were surrounded by them, just couldn’t feel the hit.
Tried some creek mouths and docks in the upper Wando. Turtle had a nice flounder up along side of the boat that flicked and swam away. We were bumming since we planned a pregame fish fry for that evening.
Wound up catching several garnetfish and a keeper trout at various spots along the main Wando river channel around docks. Water was ripping and Bugs trolling motor had a bracket break so it was tough going in that fast current. Kind of ruined his day fiddling with it to keep it in the water right.
Wound up with a keeper trout, about 8 garnetfish total, and a couple flounder who said hello by the boat and then goodbye to the deep.
Took about 4 fish home, added them to 3 keepers from Friday and had a fine fish fry, complete with hush puppies, fries, and blue cheese coleslaw! Also enjoyed a few 12 ouncers while Carolina knocked some brackets off Clemson’s motor!
Fun day! All fish caught on MM/joghead combo around structure and creek mouths with the best success towards the end of falling tide.

This Tiger fan couldn’t win on the water because I was too busy messin around with that dang trolling motor of mine…kept wanting to fly up out of the water and with the ripping currents, the boat would be down to the next dock in a matter of seconds almost slamming us into the next dock down…by the end of the day, I was wore slap out!!!..Finally Old Uncle Bugsmunny just sat down and let little TurtleSC and Vinman fish!!!

Since you are a friend of Vin’s, you must be all right so I’ll let the excuses slide. The current was ripping though, I’ll give you that.

We waz up there waaaaaaay in the creeks. And some shell bottoms. A lot slower we caught 6. When you guys fish docks, do the fish just like to hang around them. I never really fished docks before.
“In every species of fish I’ve angled for, it is the ones that have got away that thrill me the most, the ones that keep fresh in my memory. So I say it is good to lose fish. If we didn’t, much of the thrill of angling would be gone.” Ray Bergman
Generally fish the downcurrent side of them or flip under them. Often they will sit in the eddy created by them and wait for food to drift their way. If you get one near a feeder creek that often makes it better.
Q-How do you beat the Clemson Football team?
A-With a 2nd string QB, 4th string back and point gaurd from the BB squad. 3 in a row, enjoy it while we can.
All fishermen are liars except for you and me, and to tell you the truth brother, I’m not sure about you!
