I posted this in the CCA folder, but seeing it was the only active topic I figured I would place it here as well. I’m just going to copy in the email I sent to the state office the other day, but if anyone can put me in contact with the powers that be I would greatly appreciate it. We are trying to get this thing rolling, and I know its going to be long road to establishment. Hopefully this will all work out though. You can reach me at Wblandi@clemson.edu or through a PM.
To whomever it may concern,
A group of conservation minded students at Clemson have a get together every two weeks to discuss what we can do to help out ensure the future of saltwater angling and coastal habitat. Most of us are already active volunteers, politically active (tarpon laws passed in SC and FL, GA redfish gamefish status, key west dredging opposition), and we are expanding numbers rapidly. We recently came to the realization that we should form an organization in order to gain help with funding as well as use of school facilities to help with our cause.
I am writing because our best option would be to become a subsidiary of a larger non-profit, and we believe our goals align most closely with those of CCA. We have fundraisers, volunteer trips, and funding all in the works as of now.
Has it ever been proposed to allow college chapters to form and if so is it possible? We would love to spearhead this and I think if possible we could be a strong presence in the state, be of benefit for the organization overall, and possibly spark other university chapters nationwide.
I am unsure as to who exactly I should contact, but if you could forward this on or put me in touch with the correct person, it would be much appreciated.
