This popped up on the wife’s phone I think it’s from 2012. Folks canceled at the last minute so the wife and I went.
Need to find the rest of the pictures it was a epic day. Are fish boxes were overflowing. We had Cobia, grouper, dolphin, wahoo and of course all the all the bottom feeders sea bass , vermilion snapper and triggerfish.

Learned a lesson that day too. There was another Cobia swimming with that one and I gaffed it. Did not get it in the fish box and it tore all kinds of stuff up in the boat before I got it tackled and into the box.

Nice Fish!

Many years ago I jumped on a cobia we put in the boat. I thought I may have had a ruptured nut. Insides of both legs black and blue. I learned an important lesson, cobia are strong. Cover em with a wet towel and a billy stick before the ice box works for me.

Cobia is one a many on my bucket list. My Granddad used to fish for Cobia in the Broad River near Beaufort. We were never around to fish for them for some reason. He didn’t eat them back then, he gave them away.

The inside of my boat looked like a prison shower murder scene after bringing my first green freshly face-gaffed cobia into the boat.

Really, blood and bruses and broke schitt everywhere.

Good times

I’ve fished the broad and St. Helena’s. If you do the Broad go past the fleet into the shipping channel, but near Otter island has always been the most productive for me. When you see our dogwoods blooming it’s time. A live eel always worked best for me. Not sure were you can buy them now.
