Climber Stands

How many of you use a climber, also how high do you usually climb and do you use a harness?

If you’re up a tree, climber or not, you should have on a harness. When I did use a climber ~ 20’

I use a harness anytime my azz is higher than my head should be. I really prefer a good stump.

I use a summit all the time. I do 90% of my hunting out of it. I always wear a harness and my height varies. I have been as low as 10 bow hunting and close to 50 one time rifle hunting and I only know I was about 50 because that is how long my pull up rope is 50ft long and it was maxed out.

Use the climber all the time, always with a harness(hss light). 20-25ft, when you start going higher angles come into play to much when using the bow. With the rifle angles aren’t a concern.

Use a climber frequently, always use a harness since I hunt alone and
kinda want to be around and in good shape for many more hunting seasons. I usually climb 15-20’.

Always use a harness. 12 rib fractures and 5 spinal taught me that.

I either hunt on the ground in a chair, or use a climber. I quit using lock on stands years ago. I like to be about 30 feet up most times, but have a 45’ long pull up cord…and sometimes use all of it.

I always use a safety harness. A harness saved a friends life once when he had a pin fail on his foot portion of his climber ( same model I have ) I didn’t always use a harness, until that happened.

im 41 and dont use a harness. I was always scared of being hung by the belt/strap type, but reading these stories here and elsewhere i gave in and dropped 130$ today. I have 2 small children and a beautiful wife that i would like to grow older with. Ive never felt unsafe or like i needed one but 25+ feet does create a sudden stop that bones cant handle. i hunt remote and alone 90% of the time, so getting out broken prob would not happen. Thank you for sharing your stories and i will never go without again

thanks

I use the summit viper with a safety harness. Mostly 25-35 feet. Very easy to climb.
