Fished just a little while yesterday and caught this trout. Look at those bite marks. He had similar marks on the other side. He had a close call at some point and is lucky to have survived.

Yes but did he survive you? Those are impressive scars.
Yeah, he survived me too. I still have a freezer full of rock fish from a VA trip last month, so I’m not keeping anything else for a while.
I caught a few more today - 6 landed, 2 lost. All but one were 13-14", the one was just over 18".
Oh, and I’m pretty sure one of them was that same fish… looked like the same bite markings.
those could be claw marks from a predator bird as well. Congrats on the trout man. I got a few sunday and monday as well. This mild winter has been good for the trout. they needed it!

Good point. I hadn’t thought about that. We do have a number of red-tailed hawks, and one bald eagle, living right around here.
