Well took my oldest daughter out this morning to do a power hunt before her soccer game and plan A didn’t work since my GPS was delayed for 30 seconds and my hand held compass kept spinning…we got lost before even getting set up in other words. Managed to make it out to the truck and went into the next setup with 30 minutes to spare before daylight and plopped the chairs out. Started to hear deer movement around 7 and looked over to my left and here comes a slick head zombie at 12 yards. Told my daughter “There’s a deer, there’s a deer!” doe busted us when she went to put the gun up on her for the kill…still can’t believe that doe came in that close! Hosed down 4 times with bug spray and had the thermacell going and to top it off the doe was down wind. Hey my daughter may not have been able to give her a new drain hole but as long as I keep putting these girls of mine on deer in the WMA then I am doing my part as the best guide love can buy. Skeeters were big bad and ugly but the deep woods off kept them at bay and allowed us to hunt another day 8)
Good news. The thrill never changes no matter how old they get. My son is 34. He got his first elk this week. The smile on his face was almost as big as the one on your daughter.
Keep up the good work dad.
Hunting, fishing, and poker are my sports. Work when necessary.
Congrats on the close encounter. Bet She was excited…
