Have heard some stories of people taking kings within 10 miles . Its been warm enough to get the water right this month should be when they are on the move inshore. You should try the Charleston 60 been reports of reef donkeys and cobia, kings should not be far behind.

Spring has ben too cool, looks like June will be the best month this year…

Several 30lb + have been caught off NC piers in the last few days. They are out there.

thanks striperskiff AJ is it thanks for getting my back

in pensacola we used to troll about 5-10 miles off the beach and hook up. anything that close in or do you have to be in the shipping channel or over structure?

Plenty are caught within that range in the summer. I wouldn’t just go off x miles and start trolling blind, but you should pick up a Maps Unique chart and check out the marked live bottom areas as well as the the artificial reefs. Sounds like its just a matter of a couple weeks now for close in.

Disclaimer: The preceding advice is from someone who went King fishing once last year (first time ever) and has caught a total 3 kings in their life…but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn…

Ha! So I guess I should plan to fish at Chas 60 after spending the night at a Holiday Inn…

normally after a night at a Holliday Inn, I am to tired to fish the next day:sunglasses:

Started catching kings in that depth range the last 2 years. Last year it was a swarm of snakes though. Most of the kings this time of year for me seem to be just inside the ledge in 135-145’

Just got back from fishing at the Jungle and The Sherman out of little river. Caught kings at both. The jungle is about 17 miles out and the Sherman is about 7 miles off shore.

What you bait did you use at the Sherman? Did you find pogies or did you pull cigars?

gave it 2 hours today. Wrong tide, small baits, zero bites. Won’t be long

My fishing buddy caught a 37 lb king at Yaupon Beach pier off Oak Island yesterday.
