Coastal Bay 1910

Anyone running one?
My old man is looking for a new boat and this is on his list. Would love to hear about it from those that owned or have been on one.

First hand experience only please

is the coastal bay the one witht he flats boat deck, but the sides are much higher than a regular flats boat?

I think you are talking about the original “Bone Boat” design from up in Georgetown. It never took off. Didn’t Pioneer buy that mold from Bone? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen one or two with Pioneer logos.

I’f I’m not mistaken - Coastal Bay is (or was) an Action Craft

The 1910 isn’t the Bone. I’m pretty sure that Pioneer turned the Bone into the Cape Island 186. I was looking at one when I bought my Triton. Action Craft makes the Coastal Bay. I was thinking about a 2310 and it was pretty sweet but after I rode in the Triton I pretty much quit looking. I never rode in the Action Craft but their reputation seems very solid.

there is one for sale in the classified section… you can ask him, though you may get a biased opinion.

supposedly good boats, but i have no first hand experience.

That Bone Boat (now the Pioneer Cape Is) is a boatboats that was designed to do everything well, and probably didn’t. I recall they used to have platforms on them, but I couldnt imagine trying to pole it in any wind with that tall flared bow.

JR has an Action Craft Coastal Bay, but it’s a bit older and bigger than the 19’.

this one

That was my Coastal bay in the classified. Once I put on Craigslist it sold in two days. Maybe I am biased but I’ve owned a Kenner, Maycraft, Scout, and The coastal bay. The Coastal Bay was by far my favorite. The economy is why I sold it. When the housing market comes back, and my kids get a little older I will buy another one.

bump. no one runs one of these around here?

Wrong - about the only thing it doesn’t do well is pole - and thats why they make trolling motors. Everybody thats ever fished on mine likes it as well as I do. Just sayin’.
