Coating Electrical Connections

Do you coat exposed electrical terminals, like those on junction boards inside console, to protect against corrosion? Corrosion Block is one good material that could serve this purpose. I guess the downside would be making things oily and messy; but that would be better than corrosion? Just wondered if anyone has a better suggestion?

Good question and I would like to know the answer too.

Spray the panel and forget about it.

dielectric grease.

Dielectric Grease and then spray it!

Corrosion block & D grease on panels, liquid electrical tape/coating on bolted connections. Crimped heat shrink connectors with an additional layer of heat shrink on terminals and butt connectors.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Saltydog, I take that one step further, on the butt connectors! after I crimp the connectors and shrink them I use the liquid electrical tape on them.

I picked up some heat shrink connectors a little while back that had a soldering ring in them but haven’t had cause to use them yet. I’ll be interested to see how they work.
