Tracie is all smiles after landing a nice 36 inch Cobia. Fishing was slow. East wind blew all day Saturday, May 12th. Water temp 74.
nice pix pluf
What was the bait/lure? When I was a kid we lived in Beaufort. I remember the bait of choice for cobia was a live eel.
Mikeyloo…
We tried live eels but didn’t have much luck with them. Live green back herring seemed to work a little better. We did not see many fish caught this weekend nor last weekend. Cut the head off a greenie and put a couple slices crossways and that did the trick for us.

Nice fish. Ocean side of the bridge and probably middle of the rip, looks like you have done this a time or two before. We have used eels, crabs, mullet, greenies, menhaden and everything in between over the past 15 years and they have all caught fish. Last year we fished hard for a week with nothing to show for it. My younger brother shows up, first morning out he fishes with one rod and a piece of cut whiting and whamo, his first cobia about 20 minutes later.

SpanishKing, Funny you mentioned that. We made the comment that all the boats in our area should pay us to come out. For the last three weekends people all around us caught fish, except us. We brought good luck to everyone.
