Yes, there is. Jim posted it a while back in the HH forum. I don’t remember the details but I “think” it said that Broad River would be closed for the next season, or next 2, or something like that, along with some other changes is limits. I’ll try to find that post.

Correction, I was wrong, again[:I] It’s up for legislation in the spring. This is what Jim posted…

quote:
At a recent meeting of the SCDNR Marine Advisory Committee a motion was passed to be sent to SCDNR Commission for review and packaged for the 2016 legislative session. During the month of May inshore Cobia in St Helena sound, Port Royal Sound, and Calibogue Sound, if caught must be released. This will protect the Cobia during their spawning season. The motion further stated that individuals will be allowed one Cobia per day and three Cobia per boat, per day during the open season. The motion further carried that this change will continue for six years unless studies prove that the inshore Cobia fishery has rebounded in these areas. Again this motion will be presented to the SCDNR Board in October for their review and then to the SC Legislature hopefully scheduled for approval in early spring of ?16.

forget 6 years… lets start at 10 years…

I’m all for these changes… I still want to make a trip down and catch a few but am 100% fine with releasing them…

So you’ve been out at the Betsy Ross and caught a couple of cobia, on your way back in our are stopped at the landing by the man…how does he know if you were in the river/sound or actually at the reef fishing?

I’ll add I don’t think the legislation will pass.

I guess DNR could take a fin clipping, analyze it and send you a ticket in the mail.
