Not sure exactly where this should be posted, but since I don’t care who answers, I’ll post several places.
I’ve seen a bunch of cobia on my last few trips. I’d appreciate suggestions on best baits and methods of catching 'em.
Thanks,

they usually can’t resist a live crab.

Thanks. I’ve heard crab. Any particular size crab? How would you rig the crab?

legal min. 5" tip to tip. free line for surface fish. don’t get caught w/ undersized crabs.
I would try any plug, but have had good luck with yo-zuri shallow diver, something flashy. They make a squid plug that’s pretty bad-a$$. They are pretty qurious fish. Secret is don’t stop reelin’ once they take intrest. Mak’em chase it a little and tease them with it. If they only want to mouth it or, pull it away from them. They’ll get pissed and chop it. Big jigs (Bucktails) with a soft plastic on it, or a big storm bait works good to tease’em with. I got several friends that sight fish the broad river for them and do pretty good with all type lures and flies. just play with them, if they are hungry they will eat.
Live pinfish…and be patient…they will hang around the boat and look at a bait for a long time sometimes… don’t throw a bunch of stuff at them… let the bait swim out there and let them eat…
they also love squid…chum a few peices and then throw one with a hook… not as good as live biat, but we’ve caught plenty that way…
This is not a chawade…
We need total concentwation…
Live eels if you can find them. We used them down in Destin and pitched them to the fish on the surface. Inhaled them.

How did you rig your live eels? Would a big black plastic worm possibly work? Again…rigged how?
