Cobia

Reopens on the 1st it appears.

we have caught quite a few over the years at R-7 and the Ross coming home from offshore wahoo fishing in December and January

Ex conn, that is interesting, to catch cobia this time of year. How were you fishing? ’ top or bottom?

I was reeling up a fish last week; it had hit a live bait, and when I first saw it, for a moment looked like it might be a cobia. Unfortunately, it was an amberjack.

Thanks for sharing,
Roger

so is the season back open until further notice? or is it going to close again in june?

Looking at their website, it is open until further notice.

bonita strips on spro jigs seem to work the best but any glow shimano flat jig works as well

As I understand ; Cobia closes in state inshore waters May 1 thru end of month of May south of Jerremys inlet , also new is 33" minimum ,1 per day per person, 3 max total per boat as stated in SCDNR 2017 fish and game laws…Also lists some comments about limits and dates of federal total catch rules and regs…didn’t read it too close on that part:smiley::smiley:
