Coburg Creek

Don’t post often, but I don’t mind sharing a good spot… Been fishing the Coburg Creek on the Stono side for a while. Always pounded trout there on incoming tide, but today I finally caught my first red since moving down here. Awesome fight and looking for more. All caught on trout tricks. Also, what are some of your favorite ways to fish gulp shrimp… jig head, popping cork, etc etc?

I have been tearing up the flounder and reds on gulp shrimp. Well Gulp anything for that matter. I usually rig the shrimp on a 1/4 oz. jig head with a slow bottom bump for flounder and a slightly faster retrieve with a twitch for reds (still bottom bumping).

For gulp jerk shads and eels I rig them weedless, like fishing for large mouth.

Thanks for the ■■■■■■■■, man!!! Appreciate it!

Early to bed, early to rise, fish like hell and make up lies.

When I had a house on that creek I would fish that creek and that part of the stono with my Kayak every weekend. Lots of good fish in there if you bring a small craft.

I like to texas rig the gulp shrimp with one of those hooks with the screw to hold the bait on. I just hop it along the bottom. I’ve caught trout and flounder like that but not any reds yet.

Gulp all the way, The ghost shrimp are on point rig them through the tail on a 1/4 jig head so the pinchers move in the water. I also like the sardine jerk baits when the water is level or just below the grass line, rig it texas style with a big lead shot clamped on above it really gives it the wounded action

Trout Tricks, Gulp!, plastic worms, soda straws, piece of white plastic bag…all will work. Depends on the day and location. If you can’t get a Trout Trick to work, either the fish aren’t there or you are presenting it in a way that drives them off. I wouldn’t give up on TTs, (although I just use plastic jigs).
