Coffin Point

Family is about to purchase an acre off coffin point down in beaufort for them to pull their RV’s and eventually build at. Im interested in the camping and fishing. Any good fishing around the area?

Excellent fishing. As for camping your just a short distance from Hunting Island which has RV hook ups and tent sites. Lot’s of history in that area. Several landings if you have a boat, just get familiar with the area around there, much shallow water in unsuspecting places. If you look across the sound from coffin point and back to your left Morgan Island has a big sand bar that draws much eye candy in warm weather.

thanks. Ive been looking at the property on google maps. Well be facing back towards edisto across the sound. Fished Edisto all my life. See some nice sandbars in the middle that look promising (tarpon perhaps???) and a few flats and creeks around the area. the lot actually has a pond on it, but I dont know whats in it if anything. Ive recently picked up the flyrod over the last year so Im looking forward to the opportunities to come around the area.

Years ago I used to find Old Indian pottery and arrow heads all over the mud flats on Coffin Point. Most of it was 1,000’s of years old.

I have lived on Fripp point (across Coffin creek) for ths last 15 years. You can catch fish just about any time of the year. Great place to live, only bad part about the area is packing your lunch to go to the grocery store!
