It was cold and rainy on the water today. Trout bite was pretty hot though. Also picked up a couple Redfish. Most of the bites were in the middle of the water column. Pearl Z-Man Jerk Shad on a 3/0 1/16 or 1/8 ounce flutter hook was the most productive lure. Retrieve cadence was a standard twitch twitch pause. Almost all the bites came on the pause.
Did not see another boat all day.
Not sure where you were but there was some action where we were at with a few other boats. Some flounder and trout were caught by the others in the area. My buddy had a nice 15" trout and for me a small 11" bluefish.
Thanks for the report, captain. In your experience, have you noticed any correlation between the number of fish you catch on rainy days vs. dry days? I know this is just one of many variables, but I’m curious as to whether it appears to make any difference to the fish.
