What effect does this cold front moving through have on striper fishing? Did anyone have any luck on Lake Murray this past weekend?
I go whenever I can get away from the office, which has not been very often this year. I go in good weather, bad weather, cold, hot, windy, calm, etc. The more you are able to go, the better you will get at consistently catching stripers in all weather conditions. I would love to be on the lake right now. Overcast, scattered rain, light breeze…
I also go whenever I can. But it is limited. Went Monday, Memorial Day, pouring rain, the front had passed through, the wind was from the east. Had some bites, but no takers. Generally have found after a front, a waste of time (sort of, it is still fun to be out). Give it three days of clear, and the bite is back on. You can’t catchum if you aint fishin

Took my twin daughters out this evening and we ended up with 9, none were keepers but the kids had a great time.

OK, Retired. What’s your secret? It was pretty nasty yesterday. You use artificials or live bluebacks? Glad yall had some fun.
Glad you got into some fish. As hard as it is to move from fish that are biting, sometimes you have to move to find larger fish. Almost always, when I start catching “shorts”, they are almost all “shorts” that I catch if I don’t change locations.
I Went Monday (6 to 11am ) in lake Murray with the wife and managed 4 keepers 6 to 9 lbs.
Wed. PM - Caught several short fish one keeper 7 lbs.
Thur. PM - No Keepers 2 short fish.
I have been pulling live bait behind planer boards and corks. How have you guys been fishing?

I went out Friday night and caught three small ones. Saturday got three that were between 3 lb 11oz to 3 lb 14 oz. I have been trying a little of everything including live baits but the only sucess I have had was with spinners on U-rigs. Hope Coach B does not read this.
Well I always release any fish I catch unless its dolphin or grouper! Got lucky today on the east side of Wessinger Island and near the landing at Dreher Island.

Retired, you need to keep a striper and try it. Just make sure you trim all the red out of the filets. My favorite fish are tuna, striper, grouper, and dolphin.
Don’t worry about Coach B. I believe his attitude towards u-rigs is based solely upon what bait dippers tell him, not from personal experience. Too many misconceptions.
Went out his morning for about 30 minutes and caught a 28 inch stripper on the south side of Wessinger Island. Got him on a U-rig with spinners! I’m slowly improving!
