Jennifer and I caught a 2 person limit in less than an hour during the MSC Ladies Tournament yesterday morning. We drifted the channel between Spence and Bomb with 2 down rods, a freeline, and me jerking the Ben Parker. One dink was caught but the rest were 5-6 pounders. In one flurry, we had a fish on each 40 foot down rod, the freeline, and spoon simultaneously. Jennifer finished 7th. With 5 and done, it’s a crap shoot during a tournament.

X2 on what Murrymaker has written to newbies. Keeping bait healthy is imperative. Plus you’ve got to put in time and learn from good anglers. I’ve been at this 30 years and am still learning. That’s what makes it fun.

Take the money you were going to spend on a guide and buy a bait tank. If you can find fish you really don’t need a guide. You need healthy bait. You could always join the Midlands striper club. Fish their tournament and copy what they are doing. If you are still struggling there are many members that would be more than happy to help you out. Or for $100 I can sell you all of chips spots I stole from his GPS
