Is it worth it getting out on the water Saturday morning? I know temps and pressure are dropping Friday afternoon and that usually means the bite turns off 12 hours later. I would appreciate any advice or wisdom.
Stinks doesn’t it. Its been pretty all week.
I have been pondering the same thing myself. I had planned to fish top water Saturday morning, but plans may change now with this front coming. Friday nights supposed to be upper 30’s.
My turnoff for Saturday is the amount of wind Friday/Friday night.

It is going to be colder next week because I have to be outside all next week. Typical. I’ve heard fish feed more aggressively before a front. Not sure if that’s true but heck, if I had any chance to get on the water, I’d go. It beats being home doing “honey do” stuff.

Yeah, I am still going to head out. I was just trying to figure at what point the bite would significantly slow. I will let you know how it turns out. Thanks for the information and motivation.

I hate fishing post front. I’ll do it because sometimes that’s the only day(s) I can. Still beats sitting in the office. I’m a firm believer that fishing is “back to normal” 3 days after the front comes through. If it was me, I’d still go, but I would bank on a slow bite.
The best preparation you can make for post front fishing is mental preparation. Get your mind right and ready for a slow bite. Bring tons of patience too. Get after’em with that mindset and determination and focus. If the bite meets those expectations, no harm no foul, but you could stumble on to something and have a great day. Fish are still going to eat somewhere and at sometime. Plus, like some have already said, it’s still a day on the water. Things could be worse.
No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.
Cold front, fish biting or not, i am still pulling the boat down to enjoy some fishing and coastal scenery on the water. Goodluck to all.
Starting going to play not to win. Also learn to enjoy it all loading, cleaning, riding, fishing, catching. It sounds dumb but it really makes it more enjoyable. Think of it as I got to to not I got to.
I made it out Saturday morning and it was worth the effort. We had a good day on the water, quite beautiful at times when the wind decided to lay down for a bit. All in all, we managed a little under a dozen trout but did fish a lot of water and picked up good intel for the future. I won’t hesitate to get out on the water next time - I got the therapy I needed and learned a lot about a few different creeks. Thank you to those who told me to get off my butt and get out.
