Trolled around buffalo creek sunday and marked lots of bait, but no hits. Trolled bucktails and stretch 25s. Also tried freelining large shad (they didnt have herring). The water on the deck of the boat was freezing, so it was very slippery. Got very cold as the sun went down.
Do people have any luck this time of year? If so, where do you fish and what bait? I have never fished for striper this time of year. thanks
yes we do have luck.the fish seem to be scattered right now.when drifting or bottom bonceing live bait.you should be barely moving.watch your lines and try to keep them at a 45degree angle to the water.the first thing is to locate the fish which has been rather difficult lately.this is the way i start out.you ma have to speed up or slow down your drift.hope this helps.good luck
I’m with you fishhunt, I don’t catch many once the water goes into the mid 40’s. I know they can be caught and I’ve seen sharky do it, but I just cant seem to get them. I’ve even followed sharky around and tried to copy him, but nothing. I’m giving up on the striper till the water is back to 50*. I’m going perch jerkin on Sunday. If I pick up some striper thats a bonus. If anyone wants to give me a good perch jerkin spot feel free to pm me:smiley:
tom if you’re near spinners tro in front of the glass house.o remember which one i’m talking about.they should be there.try the last cove before you go under black’s brigde also.the one on the right.the left side is shallow until you get under the brigde.there should be some fish holding under the bridge on the left.if they are there you’ll mark them.
Thanks sharky, I’ll try those out. I may end up striper fishing if the MSC guys do good saturday. I’m taking the boy to monster jam or I’d be fishing the tournament. Something about those stripers I just cant seem to get away from. Everytime I say Im going for something different I end up striper fishing.
i’m not going to the truck show but not fishing either.my son is old enough now that him and his girlfriend go.i say the same thing about the stripers.i end up messing with the catfish, stripers, perch and sometimes with the crappie.either way i keep the striper rods on the boat.
thanks for the help guys. I will keep all these suggestions in mind. Im going to try and go monday and put in at riverwinds landing- i guess thats the best place to put in this time of year?

I went out sunday afternoon/night and got the big skunk. I heard water was much warmer on the lower lake and the fish were biting. That didn’t seem to be the case. I got two hits over by the beach. Started in Balentine with no hits. I think Im just going to do some work on the boat until the water warms up some. Should be good in a month or so, I just can’t seem to get them till the water hits 50
ya’ll keep on striper fishing. jeremy and i are getting ready for the crappie. they are biting . i have to find another trolling motor it appears. mine does not seem to be fixable around here. i am sending it to motor guide. hope they can do something. in the meantime i am looking for an 80# digital at a good price. any help would be appreciated.
