cold water fishing

made the call at 5am this morning after looking at the buoy report & the wind didn’t blow at 20mph as the NOHA report called for. (isobar chart was rite on) water cooled down from 70deg, 2 weeks ago to 58deg. in 150’ of water. went were we caught all the snapper & grouper a few weeks ago & the picking was slim. current was rippin and didn’t hook up till about 11:30 after trying several spots. caught a mess of bsb’s with some up to 20" (pics to follow).lots of pinks, a few reds that were to short & no groupers (one small kitty mitchell). used 7lbs. of cigars & 10lbs of squid feeding rudder fish & sharks! ocean was nice all day & rode in at 25. great day to be out with the new lower unit( had one week of warranty left) Auggie dog, green head & mega-bite made for a great day.

If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.

Cold is right. Went out to 70’ today and water 52 - 53 degrees. Caught a few sea bass, but nothing else. Saw no other life either. Air temp was cold on the ocean too. When we hit the harbor, it was like someone turned on the heat - what a difference.
