Cold weather kayaking

I’m really looking forward to getting out on some of these nice days we’ve been having.

What do you all usually ware out in the kayak during the colder months.

I’m looking at a wetsuit(shorty) and wanted to get your thoughts.

Thanks,
Scott

I am no expert on kayaking but, I can tell you this. You want something other than a wetsuit. A wetsuit keeps you warmer in cooler water because the water gets trapped between your body and the neoprene. In the Winter, the water is much colder and you will not get/keep warm once you get wet. I am looking at some waterproof paddling jackets and pants in addition to some rubber boots. I am sure some of the experts will come along soon and give you some sound advice.

This is how I gear up for cold.

Thanks for the information guys!

Too Busy - Great page on gearing up for cold weather. I really liked the video dispelling the wader miths. That may be a good direction to go.
