anyone have any tips on how to make a collapsible reef anchor?, i need to make one and dont want to take up so much room. also will a reef anchor grab hold of the bottom if you arent hooked on the reef?
West Marine sells a collapsible reef anchor for $29.00 or close to that.

In my experience they don’t grab the bottom so well unless there is structure. I also carry a regular anchor with me in case I don’t want to tie directly to the reef. If things don’t look so swift outside the jetties I can still fish inshore without a problem anchoring.
