College for a Day

The College of Charleston recently began offering a program called “College for a Day” where you spend a day learning about local issues (Spoleto, history, etc.). This time, the subject is the local Charleston fishery, and the class will be at the Grice Marine Biology lab (connected to the DNR facility). The class is going to feature marine biologists and DNR folks talking about the local fishery, complete with a harbor trawl and exploration of everything that goes on at the facility to manage and study the local waters. Everything is very hands-on and the price includes breakfast and lunch (lowcountry boil). The program is aimed at folks who want to learn more about our local fishery. Contact info is located at the bottom of the posting if you are interested.

The College for a Day: Marine Biology
on Saturday, October 15, 2011

The College for a Day (TCFD) offers an intimate class size where professors’ expertise meets curiosity and a passion for lifelong learning. TCFD: Marine Biology will be held at the College of Charleston Grice Marine Lab, which overlooks the waters that surround and define Charleston. Using the rivers and harbor as our classroom, you are invited to explore the fascinating world of Marine Biology through hands-on learning experiences and lectures from College of Charleston experts in the field.

Join us at TCFD: Marine Biology where the waterways become our classrooms and the “catch of the day” is not just for eating, but for learning!
