Hey fellow anglers, I will be attending College of Charleston in the fall as a freshman. I have been unable to find other college students who love to pursue game fish like me. So, I was wondering if anyone had any tips or leads for locations because I have only been there once.
I love to fly fish, although, conventional rods will do. I do not have access to a boat as of right now nor have the money for one but I am thinking about splurging for an ocean kayak.
Thanks!
My son will be starting college at CoC this Fall. He loves the outdoors, is a budding amateur photographer and loves to fish and just be on the water. Unfortunately for him, I taught him how to fish so he doesn’t know that much. He has a kayak but since he will be staying on campus won’t have anyplace to keep it.

Have Kayak and you will have access to more fishing spots than you will have time to fish. You are not going to have a hard time finding a friend or frat brother with access to a boat. There will be enough distractions in Charleston for you to flunk out first semester if your not careful. Stay focused on the bigger picture. ><)))’>

I’m glad you did not take that the wrong way…I was being dead serious and you obviously know exactly what I’m talking about
and from one CofC alum to an incoming freshman I tell you to enjoy every minute of your College experience, but don’t let it eat you alive…have fun!

Keep your Guydar on… That’s your radar that helps you find Guy Harvey shirts. Find those and you may get yourself invited by a friend of a friend, who knows a guy, who knows a guy, who sold a boat to a guy, that goes fishing…
Lots of fishing clubs in Charleston with modest dues and great people who will welcome you with open arms. Local tackle shops are staffed with knowledge employees, and free seminars from local pros. Post & Courier newspaper has great coverage in the sports pages, especially the Sunday edition, on fishing inshore and offshore. Save up some hard earned cash and charter with a local captain…always money well spent, and you can keep the cost down by going with a couple of buddies.
