Columbia reports...

Friend of mine caught 8 on the Congaree Friday just south of the Blossom St bridge, only had to throw one back using cut shad on the bottom.

Sunday, I was fishing near the channel coming out of Lighthouse Marina, some guy on a 23’ cc hauled in a big one, 30#'s? about 30 yards from me. I could see a planer board out the side and they were trolling really slow (electric troll motor) with what looked like big rebels.

I caught two bass, one 10" the other about 12". At least I got sunburned.

I spent my weekend fishing time replacing my aft bilge pump, switch, and hose. Sure would have liked to have wet a line instead.

Dilly Dally,

If that boat was a light powder blue around 11:45 that was me. THe fish weighed 20 lbs. Just big enough for a mount. It was certainly my biggest stripe yet. I caught him on a BB.

Yeah, that was you then. What were y’all trolling, crank baits or herring or what? Nice fish dude! That was fun… I got out my shad rap and started jiggin! I think they heard you yell over at Pine Island.

Redstripe, Did you catch any others or was that the lone warrior? Congrats on the good stripe!

Guys,

That was the maiden voyage of my new boat. I was trying to get a guage on how the trolling motor worked, how the rod holders were set up, the new live well, etc. We went to better bait and got 2 dozen live herring, and thats what we caught the fish on. It was the only fish we landed. We had another on that I believe was that big or bigger. We hooked up with it over near bundrick island. My buddy picked the rod up and it let it run hard. It ran him into what I’m pretty sure was a stump field, ( I remember it during the drawdown ) and broke him off. I love striper fishing Murray this time of year. All freelines and planer boards for the next month and a half. Let me know how you guys do, the info on the midlands striper site is non-existant anytime close to a tournament.

I heard there were some good size fish in the saluda river.

Peace

Hey Fellas, I went down on the Congaree on Saturday night with live and cut herring thinking if I got behind Eastman I would pick up a few nice fish. Instead all I got was two 12lbs cats. I’m going to give them a shot again Friday and Saturday night. Any suggestions on the river or should I just head back to the lake and free line? Take care fellas and save the rest of us a few. God Bless, Brian Herring
