Hit docklights hard last night, i figured the new moon in April would have em hugging the lights pretty good, fattening up their bellies for the impending spawn but they were dead. Once the tide turned around ten the worms started hatchin though, so at least that was cool to see. I’ve them hatch a few times since i moved down here but have never seen fish eating em. I’ve heard a few reports of dinker trout bein caught but i did pretty well with the big girls this time last year, and they’re rejecting me now, anybody caught any 20+" yet? Oh well, at least the bass have been eating good, nabbed this boy on a quick S. Edisto trip yesterday AM.
Hmm not a good sign. I have heard of trout caught up here in the Wando, nothing too big. Were you in Edisto or Charleston fishing the lights? Bob Sanders hasn’t seen any trout in the S. Edisto yet…
Pig of a red though, esp OTF!!
2000 SeaPro 180CC w/ Yammy 115 2 stroke
1966 13’ Boston Whaler w/ Merc 25 4 stroke “Flatty”
Sat and Sun, I scouted deeper structure for reds with Gulp Shrimp. Normally, doing this, I inadvertently pick up a good number of trout on the outside edge of the structure. I did not catch a trout.
Real nice red! I’ve got a friend from Memphis, then my brother in law coming in the last week of the month to fish OTF for reds.
