Going to be on the Isle of Palms. Plan to dip the yaks (pair of T-120s) in the salt. We (wife and I) fish out of them a good bit up here in the upstate but this will be the first time in the salt. Anybody interested in showing an upstater some water or at least good put-in points. I know I have seen yaks put-in next to the road at the old Sullivans Island bridge. Other than that I really don’t know any other good access points with good fishing. I don’t want you honey holes, just put-in spot in the area of good water. Or if somebody want to meet up and paddle, wet a line, and/or drink a cold one let me know.
Try dropping them in at the IOP marina by Wild Dunes. Morgan creek (which the marina sits on) has some real good fishing. On higher tides, you can paddle the creek all the way to Dewee’s inlet. Should be good fishing the whole length of the creek.
If you head to the left out of the marina, and then right into the ICW, and then left down your first creek into the ICW (Seven Reaches Creek I believe) you will eventually run into Grays Bay/Hamlin Sound Area. Fish on a rising tide, and you should do well.
I have had good luck on artificials like grubs and spoons in this area, as well as shrimp from a cork and mullet on the bottom.

Be careful back in the bays and sounds not to get caught at low tide. Believe me, I learned the hard way, and it was not a pleasurable experience.
Hope some of this helps,

I haven’t fished IOP/WildDunes … In my time in SC this summer I hit the Ashley and the Stono mainly with a great amount of success gettin after my boys (reds).
These general tips should be useful though…I wouldn’t mess around w/ high tides…It makes sightfishing super hard I’ve found (even when they’re up in the grass. I’d find a wide open flat at dead low tide and fish the skinny water as the tide begins to slowly fill in. Oh and make sure the flat has a deep water connection to a steady source…I imagine the ICW or any inlet around there should be great. I’ve heard those areas around there (Hamlin Sound, Bulls Bay, etc) are great…you should have some luck…go gulp if you’re a newbie, when their schooled up (as they were after these last little cold fronts) they’ll be all over it.
Good luck!
