I think I’ve narrowed my search down to these two mostly because of what I have read and the fact that I can get a good deal on either. $50 more for the used Solo and a longer drive vs a brand new 120 and a shorter drive.
Anyways I am looking to fish ponds, and slow moving water and creeks, etc. I would like to take my 30-50# child along from time to time for floats or fishing. Can anyone think of a strong argument for or against one of these?
If I can get a reasonable price on a U14.5 tandem, I would probably go for that.
Both are really good boats. The U14.5 will be a little faster than the C120. The C120 will track a bit better than the U140 because of the full length keel.
Both handle great and make excellent standup fishing platforms.
One advantage of buying new is having a hull warranty. They’re amazingly tough, so this really isn’t a big factor.

They are having a sale-2011 Commander 120 and 140 for $699 and $799. Cave Spring is near Rome, Ga., NW part of the state, about an hour from Atlanta. Rides are very cheap also. Good people!
Thank guys. Looks like I should be leaving Columbia with a Tandem tomorrow. Either one from RR or a local. I am pretty excited as this should meet my most important needs. Giveing me the flex to take my wife and toddler or my dad or just go solo in style.
Yeah it was pretty cool. I ended up with an 07 from a local seller. I took a few things apart (seats, foot peg) and cleaned everything up real good and it has been awesome. Just paddling my two year old around our lake has been a lot fun. I am excited to get it out in the salt water creeks or on a river float now.
