Compulsive Fishing Disorder

Willy, I’ve gone through 3 4/0, 2 6/0, 1 9/0. A 50lb lever drag reel, Daiwa 600h, several smaller reels. Don’t know how many rods and spinning reels.

I only have eyes for my wife.

I think this winter I am going to get some pratice on the large reels, what size is big enough for sharks

work is for people who can’t fish

Depends. I personally wouldn't go with anything smaller than a 6/0.

how about the lenght of the rod , I have rods now but they are for spinning.

Steven, right now. I’ve got 2 set ups. First is a Okuma T100 leverdarg on a 5 1/2’ or 6’ 100lb all roller rod and a Penn 9500 on a Okuma Sentara 10’ spinning. You planning on casting out or yaking?

im gonna be biased on this…imagine that.get a ambassadeur reel and you wont have to worry about all the practice.they cast great once someone shows you how to set it.anything from 7000 to 10000 size will do fine.level wind or not doesnt really matter.i prefer non level wind, but thats me.get a 8ft rod atleast, this is minimal for surf.go fishin.the gold colored big game or black ones, newer ones are the best ones i think.put it on one of those outer banks casting rods like you like, just the casting model with a minimum 4oz weight rating.

Would have to agree with willy on that. The 6/0 and bigger are a pita to cast. The ambassadeur is a nice piece to cast with.

all this conventional talk is killing me

it’s gonna take a long time to convince me to switch to that for the surf… for the boat i love em, but for the surf, gimme a classic penn 750 baby!

that will work, now I have something to work on.

work is for people who can’t fish

watch ebay and pounce on the one you want.like i said, make sure its a 7000 or bigger.

that will work, because i think it is time to get with the program and get into those big sharks. catching trout is fun, but after awhile that gets old.

uh oh, willy recruited another

welcome to the club

after your first big one from the surf, your hooked forever

yep.

you will still fish for other fish, but you will always want to have that one rod out for mr big.

you will plan your trips around whether you think the sharks will be there or not.

you will argue or discuss with your buddies whether they are there on low or high tide.

it goes on and on and never gets old.

oh,and kut…i met steven some time back.he likes the same kind of fishin i used to live for.i knew he would join the dark side sooner or later.he better buy a rig for his kid too.haha.

you know you have disorder when you buy tackle and rods/reels for someone else in the family to justify your next purchase.

or buy hooks, weights, swivels, leader material…evrytime you go to walmart, whether you need it or not.

when you wake up in the morning and the first thing you do is log on to chasfishing.com to what everyone caught.

when you have a rod/reel for every type of fishing imaginable even if you dont do that type of fishing.

when your wife knows as much about fishing as you do because she realizes it is the only way she will get to spend any time with you.

yep…certifiable

whether you need it or not…lol:smiley:

youre gonna need another tackle box.:stuck_out_tongue:

hey fishing you have me figured out, I always say this is for my son. don’t get me wrong I will still fish for trout and flounders, but I hooked up on some big sharks this year and I need the right stuff to bring them in. try catching a 4 foot shark on a 7 foot outer banks bait rod with 17 pound test, never want to do that again.

whoa whoa…wait a minute…thats awesome steven.a 4 footer on light tackle…dam, this just gets better and better.racrx said he caught alot of bonnetheads that way.a smaller rig with a crab for bait.i want to try that again one day.i would love to get one on my little narrow spool 4500 on the old school garcia conolon.15 lb yozuri would hold em i think.

it took me right at 45 mins to bring that thing in, had to work the drag and work the rod just right. I was using blue crabs for bait trying to get a spottail and all I heard was my reel singing. that is what sold me on outer banks rod.

I’ve had this disease for a few years now. This aint’ a joke. I love the saltwater and fish every day (surf, inshore, kayak).
Pray for me… (that the wind stays down):sunglasses:

yeah…youre a fishin junkie, thats for sure.i think you actually fish more than any other person on this site hands down.good on ya.
i wish i still could do that.now,if i can get 2 days in my fix is fixed.

this shoulder is gonna mess this up for awhile.i may try and just go bait fishin or something.
