mrclean-they have breakaway rods on there.dont know how good those prices are though.
they only have ambassadeurs up thru 6500 size.but,they do have some good prices.
Ok got 1 beef stick5.5 30-50 for the 4.0 on clearance:smiley:6.0 combo on clearance was calling to me but i passed.ill check that site out.
My next rod i want all metal reel seats.im not sure of the double roller system thing though.roller tip i get but the triple roller bottom threw me off a bit.
all metal reel seat it a must for the 6/0 and bigger.

Thats what i figured saw some in the 80-150 range.i figured the 4.0 would be ok i doubt it will take the pressure that a 6.0 will.
surffishinnewb the 4/0 can be casted with some practice.i can show you if we ever meet up on the beach.an 8ft rod would work great with the 4/o.calcutta makes on (heavy action).
Cool thanks i may make a trip or two this winter.i figure there has to be some big fish thats different from the others roaming around.my plan is to get red series 6.0 or heavier.and red 4.0 want two of each.going to get a new surf fishing reel and rod as well probably penn this time.

Willy, Digital dagger is really into surf fishing that have a surf fishing club up there. if you look on his web sight they rate the top 5 surf casting reels, spinning reels, and rods for them. supposedly they test out alot of stuff they are big on daiwa rods and reels for the surf
yeah,i saw that rhyno.you noticed they have the tsunami rods at #6.
however,i put my ambassadeur ahead of all those reels they list,maybe not for distance.but,it will still be around when those are in the landfill.(i am speaking of the baitcasting models)
I tried, but i broke. thinkin about fishin gear gets me good. had to think about the 12 foot Tsunami all day. and compared it to another item i’ve been thinking about. ended up ordering the Penn Pro Guide Surf / surf casting rod. 12 foot, 2 piece, 20 - 40 lb. @ 4-12 ozs. lighter and thinner than the Ande spinning stuff I have now. so the Ambassador will go back on the Tsunami 10 ft. and the 700B on the new Penn.

I sure hope so. I got 2 10ft spinning rods like those in stock. really like the feel of em but never used one yet. that was a hard choice. part of me says i should have went with the Tsunami because i really like all my other ones. but i kept thinking of how the penn felt.

Thanks Willy. Their prices for Breakaway are same as in TX. Personally I will always buy straight from Breakaway. Nick Meyers is an awesome person and plus they have my info already in the computer. My next purchase will be the HDX but will have the adjustable reel seat.
4/0 reels can be casted, I’ve casted them but I found a long rod works better. I would highly recommend you putting a few rare earth mags to help with spool control. I have mags on some of my conventionals that dont have cast control. Makes them more controllable
