Well I have CDF but not as bad as you fellows. My pole selection is one 8’6" rod with a cheap spinning reel.Another 8’6" rod w/o the cheap reel , it wont reel in line. A 8’ casting rod w/ a Penn 65 on it. It doesnt cast too far. I also use both inshore. Have another flimsy Penn rod with a 550ssg(Penn ), the other reel just like it broke while riding in the back of my truck. These are light wt. rods, with a 3 oz sinker you think u have a 5 pound fish on lol.Thats with no current. I want to replace these 2 rods. I’m thinking ab out buying a few more reels to replace the broken ones and maybe a 5’6" rod for the Penn 65.
Later I want to step up on my surf rods n reels but not with 6, 9 or 16/0’s.Mayb e get a 10/12’ rod with a Penn 9500 spinning. I think the new ones r called 950 . I will do more surf fishing this year. You fellows have caught me up with all this talk.

thats what were here for.penn 9500 is a good reel for just about anything in the surf.get you a nice long rod for it and youre set.if you wanted to get into sharkin cheap,that si the way to go.you can catch up to a 6 footer on that.load with braid and you can get alot of line on it also.good luck and see ya next year.

dang, the temp. is going to 77 today and i have a list of other stuff needs done. need to do a brake job and replace a washer pump this morning.

If we could drive on the beach here I would be out everyday before and/or after work. I would custom make a surf cart that just slides onto my trailor hitch and back the Xterra up to the water.

Wouldn’t need a surf cart if you could drive on the beach. The Xterra would be your surf cart.
