Everything I try to download, adobe flash, Microsoft IE 11 Updates etc are not going through. I keep getting a message that the download contained a virus and was deleted. This is coming from trusted sites (adobe and Microsoft). I’m thinking I have a virus or a corrupted IE (Internet Explorer). Not sure if this is the issue or not. Any gurus on here?

Try downloading Mozilla/Firefox as your search engine. If it works for you, I think you’ll have a much safer surfing experience on the web. And, by the way, no Guru here, just relaying my experiences.

Try the Microsoft fix it tool. I downloaded it and have used it several times . [icon]

If no luck…look up Stan the Computer man. He fixed my pc in 2 hours on the same day I called him. I had a virus that would not let me install anything. He fixed the problem for $50. I am not sure where you are located but Stan is in Moncks Corner.

First- it sounds like you may have anti-virus programs that are going nuts, but that would be rather unusual I think.
Try the following steps. It sounds to me like either your Internet Explorer is corrupted, or you have malicious malware on your computer that is hijacking any download you get.
Go look up Malwarebytes anti-malware service. IT IS FREE and works great, I can attest. Try to install the Malwarebytes. If it fails, you probably do have malware that is “protecting itself”.
Malwarebytes has a “Chameleon” option, which will allow you to download and install their software “through the back door” so that the malware on your computer doesn’t notice it and hijack it. Their site will guide you on how to do this. I have not needed to do it, but I know it is usually effective.
Install the Malwarebytes and run it on your whole computer. You will likely find SCADS of malicious bull on your computer.
Saying “I am offended” is telling everyone else that you cannot control your own emotions, and thus you need everyone else to do it for you.
I agree with the Malwarebytes software and that’ll probably fix a Malware. But if that doesn’t work:
What virus scanner are you using? Got screen shots? If you’re using McAfee or Nortons they have “log” files that’ll tell you why they were blocked. Screen shots of that might help to.
Task Manger will show services running. Does anything look odd there? Lot of times you can look at the running servies and look them up on Google if they look odd.
After trying malwarebytes and several other options I ended up re-setting the computer to “out of the box” state. I had a bad trojan horse that was blocking any and all downloads, including malware and anti-virus updates. I now use google chrome exclusive;y as my internet gateway. All of the blogs said that I had a bad bug. Thanks for all of the advice.
