I am considering donating a percentage of my profits to an organization that will protect our fishery and protect our rights to fish. Im not sure where to start. Does anyone know of an organazation that is whorth looking into? Being a SC native I would perfer to give to a local organization.
RFA. I’m not trying to scratch my own back here, but you may want to also donate to your SC Representative and/or Senator if that person supports fishing. There’s a group of us that are VERY hunting/fishing friendly and we keep an eye on these issues in Columbia. Keeping these people in office is one of the best investments you can make. Just my .02 cents.
RFA PAC is the place to put it in. It could be used this year very bad as to it is needed for the Reauthorization of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act to add Flexibility, Access, and a Sound Science Approach to Sustainability… If you want to know anymore about it send me a PM with your number. Be glad to tell you how it works and what it will be used for. You my want to check out this link: http://old.charlestonfishing.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=132970
nothing wrong with suggestions mentioned here…another option would also be www.dolphintagging.com it’s roots began here locally and have provided a world of accurate research and still going strong. just a thought.
888-564-6732 for RFA
And
843-795-7524 for Don Hammond’s dolphin tagging.
These are engaged organizations who put our money to the best use for offshore fishery issues.
RFA is the absolute only political action organization that fights for our rights as its number one priority. They are the saltwater fishing equivalent of the NRA for gun owners. RFA’s mission is to protect saltwater fishing industry jobs and to promote sustainability in fisheries. They’re a 501c4, which is what a non profit must be in order to actively lobby elected officials and use a PAC.
Don’s work is extremely unique in that he has put a focus on recruiting private involvement in obtaining sound scientific data to help us understand a very important sport fishing species and it’s biology. Don saw the writing on the wall and what happens when we think the government will keep track of species we care about and manage them adequately without our involvement.
